GoPro mount on my EZglider

Here are 2 pictures of the mount I did on my EZglider to do the video I shared with you the past days. It relies on accessories provided in the "helmet" version of the Go Pro.

A solid wood plate is glued at the top of the fuselage, at CG location. I have inserted a bolt in the wood plate in order to rotate the Go Pro fixing plate on top. there are 2 positions: 0 and 90° which allow me to do 0, 90, 180, 270° view. So side or rear view are possible.

Then, I use the long fixing arm provided in the helmet kit in order to have the GoPro higher and see at the minimum the nose and the spin.

I uploaded few pictures on picasa: here

I flight apart the addition weigth (200g), I don't see much difference, and the EZG is even able to climb when conditions are good.

The power of the dualsky motor is great to carry everything in silence which is a plus when you fly in a quiet place.

DSing the Alliaj HM

Here is a short video of the Alliaj HM while DSing at the local slope. The Alliaj HM demonstrated good abilities to DS. Fast, stable, and stiff. Of course we are not talking about hard DS or record, it is not designed for it.

For those who don't know Grenoble, Grenoble is a city in southeastern France, situated at the foot of the French Alps where the river Drac joins the Isère. Located in the Rhône-Alpes region, Grenoble is the capital of the department of Isère. The proximity of the mountains has led to the city being known as the "Capital of Alps."

Grenoble's history encompasses a period of more than 2,000 years, and the city has been the capital of the Dauphiné since the 11th century. Grenoble experienced a period of economic expansion in the nineteenth and 20th centuries, which is symbolized by the holding of the X Olympic Winter Games in 1968. The city is now a significant scientific center in Europe.
The population of the city of Grenoble at the 2006 census was 156,107 inhabitants. The population of the Grenoble urban unit at the 2006 census was 427,659 inhabitants. The population of the Grenoble metropolitan area at the 2006 census was 531,440 inhabitants.

Grenoble La Bastille

With my new setup (EZglider and GoPro) I returned to La Bastille in Grenoble to fly around and do a video and some pictures.

The Bastille is the name of a fortress culminating at 476 m (1,561ft) above sea level, at the south end of the Chartreuse mountain range, overlooking the city of Grenoble, France. Video will be ready tomorrow. It is in the queue on Vimeo and waiting for encoding.

Plan de Baix

Yesterday, I went to a new F3F spot in order to validate it. I was with 2 F3F mates, Paul Derbier and Etienne Beraudo. I spent the afternoon to fly alternatively my Alliaj HM, then my Weasel Evo.

Here is the video taken by Paul while I was testing one side of the slope:

I had good runs but overall the slope is not consistent enough to host an event. This is a shame beacuse the place is nice and the village around is beautiful.

At the end of the afternoon, I flew my EZGlider with the Go Pro and did a small clip:

Icare cup

the Icare cup is the most important event in France and Europe for hangliding, paragliding. For few years now it's event more than that and RC airplanes are represented.

I participated for the first time to animation with a pylon racing with 3 merlins from MPX, than a flight with the EZglider and the Go Pro HD on it.

Col du Glandon

The 4 and 5th of September, we had our club F3F competition, part of the french league. 21 Pilots went to complete 9 rounds in a superb scenery with the Mont Blanc facing us, on the north slope.

Conditions were stable, but not very strong. Best time of the competition has been accomplished by a clubmate (40s). I managed to win 4 of the 9 rounds, and won the competition. I flew my Alliaj HM.
